“Tell me why I should spare you?” Lady Rune said.
“Because I have learned. I can go on and do better this time!” He said. “I can get close enough to kill him.”
“That was actually a very good response. I expected much less from the likes of you.” She said.
“So you will let me live?” He asked pleadingly looking up at her. She twirled the knife a couple times. Then smiled at him sweetly.
“Indeed it was a good response, and that means you are quite intelligent.” She said. Then she scowled again, the leaned over and drove the knife into his neck.
”But it was far too good. We can not have anyone manipulating the system.” She said to him as he collapsed altogether. The blood that escaped from his neck was minor. He was already dead, and the blood was cutting itself off. She pulled out the knife, and wiped it on his clothing.

She turned to the guard in the doorway. He acted unfazed by what happened, but she knew he was shaken up. All mortals got shaken up by death; it scared them and reminded them of their own mortality. She on the other hand, being immortal, had no care for the man at all.

“Burn him. We do not want anyone catching on.” She said.
“Lady, if I may?” He asked.
“You have permission to speak.” Lady Rune said impatiently.
“We might attract too much attention if we burn him here.” He said.
“Take the body, cut it up, and burn it in the fireplace.” She said.
“But,” he started.
“Do you wish to join him? I can find a new guard.” She said.
His eyes widened, and he pulled out a knife, and walked over to the body. He gagged at he cut it. She walked out of the room. She would watch it, but she had no interest in staying. She had other men waiting. She also had to come up with another plan. The fools working under her were failing at every turn.
